Summer Internship Program

The Alphacet Summer Internship is a full-time, 10-week internship experience in Stamford, CT designed to give exceptionally bright and highly motivated college students experience working in all facets of a financial technology software company. The program begins May 31 and ends August 6. All interns are unpaid. Assignments include:

  • Quantitative Research - Help build quantitative financial models and test new Discovery system components
  • Quantitative Support - Provide support training new clients on the Discovery system and responding to client inquiries
  • Sales and Marketing - Provide support for ongoing sales and marketing initiatives

Qualifications

The program is open to highly ambitious and self-motivated rising college Juniors and Seniors who demonstrate an interest in quantitative financial analysis and financial modeling. Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills as well as a background in mathematics. Knowledge of Lisp code, MATLAB, C or any other programming language is strongly preferred. Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.5.


Vice President of Sales

We are looking for an experienced senior sales executive to drive product adoption and revenue as well as manage the Alphacet sales team and process. This is a significant opportunity for the right person and offers equity participation in a fast growing company backed by a leading private equity firm.

Our VP of Sales will be based in Stamford, CT and will help build and manage a small team of sales executives and pre-sales staff primarily located in the U.S. He or she also will be a key part of the Alphacet executive management team, participating in a wide range of strategic and operational decision-making. The position reports directly to the CEO.

The VP of Sales will drive and lead all sales activity, and meet and exceed quarterly and annual budgets. He or she will build business as well as recruit, manage, motivate and coach future sales managers and pre-sales managers.

The VP of Sales will be expected to build and manage a sales pipeline of qualified prospects and inform companywide forecasts by gathering and communicating market intelligence to company management. He or she should have a strong quantitative background with knowledge of the complexities of quantitative financial modeling and program trading.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Create clear standards for performance including:

  • Appropriate standardization of sales approach
  • Standards for sales activities and results and healthy internal competition
  • Build relationships with key industry influencers and partners to encourage referral business and create additional sales channels

Build a strong sales culture through:

  • On-going sales training, product training and shared success stories
  • Camaraderie, shared goals, & joint problem-solving among the sales team

Support a company-wide sales drive:

  • Work closely with marketing director on sales tools and marketing programs
  • Serve as a key member of the executive management team and a key voice of the market for product and strategy decisions

Requirements and Skills

  • At least 10+ years sales experience, and 5+ years software sales management experience, with excellent financial results
  • Solid domain knowledge in financial technology, ideally in the hedge fund industry, with at least five years of financial markets experience
  • Knowledge and experience with quantitative financial modeling or program trading tools and processes. Experience with mathematical analytics products (MATLAB, S-PLUS, R) preferred
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex quantitative concepts applied to the development of investment strategies used by hedge funds, CTAs, proprietary traders, and quantitative asset management firms
  • Track record for garnering new business and growing existing accounts
  • Excellent coach, motivator and organizational leader
  • Excellent sales strategist--able to dive into details while also driving the organization toward big picture results
  • Solid operating experience in sales management, including contract negotiation, territory/quota allocation, compensation planning, forecasting, etc.
  • Hands-on sales approach, with experience learning and demonstrating complex software products
  • Experience in managing fast growing organizations and remote staff; experience working outside the U.S. is a plus
  • Expertise selling complex software solutions (including implementation & services) for high-end products with $1m quotas
  • Very smart, excellent communicator, intensely driven, pragmatic and action-oriented with a strong executive presence
  • College degree in mathematics, economics, finance or a related discipline required; MBA or CFA designation a plus

Product Specialist

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our product specialist team in Stamford, CT to operate in the following areas:

Pre-Sales:

  • Help drive revenue by assisting Sales with product demonstrations and sales presentations
  • Work with prospects during product trials to identify needs and meet trial objectives
  • Assist trial clients with data management, model development, and back-testing
  • Provide product training to end users

Post-Sales:

  • Provide end-user support via phone, on-site and via e-mail
  • Collect case-relevant support information
  • Solving complex financial, mathematical, and programming problems. Provide feedback to development team (bug reporting, new feature requests)

Requirements:

  • Communication: You must be able to communicate complex technical concepts to any given audience at the appropriate level. Excellent written and verbal skills are essential, as well as the ability to provide customized product demos on a regular basis
  • Math (Minimum): Basic Linear Algebra / Eigensystems, Bayesian Probability and Elementary Statistics, Elementary Random Processes (Covariance, Correlation, etc), Multivariate Calculus and Basic Dif Eq.
  • Computing: Proficient programmer with good programming habits, familiar with LISP. Should have market experience of using MATLAB and/or R
  • Work Experience: You should have worked on a systematic trading desk as a trader or with daily contact with traders
  • Education:An undergraduate degree in Math, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative discipline is required
